If you don’t know Monaco yet, you should go there without any prejudices and form your own opinion. Certainly, there are also unpleasant things there – as everywhere in the world. But if you like Las Vegas or Disney World, you will love Monaco. Because in Monaco the inhabitants themselves create a uniquely extravagant atmosphere.
1. International flair
On an area of only 2.084 km², 40,000 people from more than 139 nations cavort, of which the Monegasques themselves make up just a quarter. But there is no trace of nationalism or scepticism towards foreigners. With a gross domestic product (GDP) of 158,930 euros per capita (2018), the population obviously seems to have other things in common – in comparison, the GDP per capita in Germany was only 40,623 euros.
Anyone being in Monaco for the first time will immediately appreciate the international atmosphere that excludes no one – as long as a well-groomed exterior is presented.
2. Safe as nowhere else.
420 cameras in the Principality ensure 24 hours that no one comes to harm so quickly. In addition, there is an unbelievably high density of policemen – one policeman per hundred inhabitants – who not only convey security in their uniforms, but are also very pretty to look at.
No wonder that the crime rate in Monaco is the lowest in the world!
I remember someone once telling me that he had forgotten his mobile phone on a bus in Monaco. He was able to pick it up a day later from the bus company without any problems. No one had thought of stealing his high-quality smartphone.
As I like to go out in Monaco myself, I can confirm from my own experience that even as a woman alone in the middle of the night, you can move everywhere with a safe feeling.
4. indulge instead of envy
If you want to see the latest luxury cars, you either go to the Geneva Motor Show or to Monaco. Whether in pink, gold, marble-look or covered with rhinestones, everyone is proud to be able to present their individual vehicle – from Bentley to Veyron – without envy. The same goes for the latest fashions, the most expensive handbags and the most eye-catching real jewellery.
Due to the almost non-existent crime rate, the super-rich can carry their toys around carefree and contribute to the city’s ostentatious image. And even the bubbleheads, wannabes and escorts adhere to the high dress code rules, so one thing can be sure: Not all that glitters is gold, but at least it looks good.
5. Interesting people.
Not everyone can afford a monthly rent of at least 3,500 euros for a studio. So anyone who has managed to live in Monaco by themselves must have at least done something right professionally. Instead of throwing thousands of euros into the maws of some success coach, it’s better to seek out a conversation with a real Monaco resident.
But the street scene is also characterised by top athletes, actors and musicians known from film and radio. If you like to surround yourself with interesting and successful people, you simply have the best chances in Monaco.
By the way, I got the tip that the really interesting inhabitants of Monaco are rarely found in Monte-Carlo, where the main tourist destinations such as Café & Hotel de Paris and the casino are located.
